I’ve been working since I was 13 years old. When I was young, it was about independence and the ability to buy things that my parents wouldn’t get for me. Simpler times. Skateboards, music, video games–important stuff to a 13 year old. Most people would say (especially my parents) that I wasted a lot of money in those years. A new skateboard every few weeks, punk rock, mindless video games–all temporary thrills. Looking back now, I understand that those frivolous purchases helped make me who I am. Skateboarding introduced me to graphic design, branding and illustration through the iconic graphics and logos. Punk rock taught a generation that you didn’t need to be classically trained to make. Video games engendered a love of technology, problem solving and digital design that I’m still using to this day.
