I’ve been publishing these posts in various formats, on multiple platforms, and with different models (I won’t dare say business) for over eight years. The first post was technically on May 15th, 2016.It was a humble beginning. I promptly forgot to post again until October, 28th, 2016. I was still creating the content for my team, I just wasn’t in the habit of posting them publicly yet. From that point on, I’ve been consistent. Medium was the main platform for a long time. Medium’s ease of use and generous author payment program (that paid for my monthly fees) made it worthwhile. In the meantime, I experimented with a daily email newsletter version with 5 links a day. That was torturous and expensive. I started cross-posting to my own blog with big dreams of moving all of the content from Medium over. That hasn’t happened–yet. It may never happen. Over two years ago, LinkedIn created a newsletter option, so I added that as a more paired-down version. I’m trying to simplify, and I keep saying that the Medium version will die soon. I don’t want to pay for Medium anymore. Yes, there is some good content on the platform. Is it worth $60 a year–I’m not so sure. I’ve been leaning into the idea that creators should own our content. This is a little strange to say, being that this content is itself an aggregation of other folk’s amazing work. If you believe that curation is an act of creation, and I have to in this case…
