I just learned about the concept of akrasia. I’ve read about it before, but somehow it didn’t hit me then. I honestly don’t remember reading about it. I know it’s part of ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear.

The concept: The state of acting against your better judgment–when you do one thing even though you know you should do something else.

I realized, when I read about this in another book that I do this way too often. It’s like procrastination, but it’s more insidious. You’ve already done the mental work. You’ve calculated that this task is the most important thing you need to do to further your goals. Instead of doing that task, you play video games for four hours. That’s what I do. I’m trying to get better, but it’s a struggle. Today, I won. Here are the links to prove it.
